Grand Canyon
Adventures of a Different Nature!
Seasonal Weather & Temperatures

For many, the thought of traveling through the Southwest in
summer conjures images of a haggard
cowboy crawling through sun scorched sand dunes, scorpions creeping along and vultures
circling overhead as he struggles along desperately on all fours. Our cowboy's
only hope is to locate a stout cactus, cut off its top and
dip his cup into the reservoir of fresh lifesaving water within!
Well pard', only the likes of John Wayne and Bugs Bunny would do such a foolish thing
as to travel in those parts of the Southwest in summer! But
then again, only
they could get H2O out of a cactus!

Now imagine
yourself strolling through
high
forests of pine, spruce, fir,
and
maple,
en
route to an amazing promontory on the edge of splendor - the Grand Canyon's
vibrant walls fall in sheer waves below you as stunning
palisades of unbelievable scale and color - only to rise again as rugged soaring towers
dancing in a sea of multi-hued vastness!

Summers average in the high boreal forests
in and around our special Grand Canyon destinations.
We'll take you there! And to many such places!
|
| Or perhaps an afternoon of
exploring the glowing walls and sensuous forms of shady high elevation slot
canyons. |

How about a
watery stroll in the deep halls and magnificent grottos of a desert oasis? THIS is what we like to do in the summer! Our way really is more fun! |
|
Shade and water in the lower canyons make
the warmer weather perfect!

|
We live here. We play
here. We know
the land, the weather, and where to go when it's hot, cold, or perfect. Most
of our summer trips are enjoyed at cooler high elevations - between
7,000
and 9,000 feet (Denver
is at 5300 by
comparison), and of course, we venture into the warmer lowlands to take
advantage of cool and spectacular watery hikes (such as the one pictured to
left) which are only available during the warmer summer months.
During the spring and fall seasons we reverse these priorities to take advantage
of desert warmth, and the adventure opportunities which lay hidden there. |
|
.So basically,
if you know where to go, summers are GREAT here! In fact, many of the lodges we frequent close
for the winter because of high snow falls! |
